Hair Color At Home?

Ok, I've colored my hair fairly a lot throughout my life. It's been a fairly long time since I had it done though, but the last time I had it lightened to a really light blonde and my hair started looking dry and frizzy. So, I took care of it and then had it cut. Then I had a light brown put on it. Now my hair looks beautiful and healthy again, partly because it's had a lot of time to heal and partly because I take care of it with good shampoos and such. Now I'm wanting to dye my hair again, but I'm worried I'll ruin it or seriously damage it. Is it safe to dye again? Is it ok to use color from a store? Thanks!

It's safe you use color from a store, but a professional coloring might be acutally what you need to do. Your hair is getting better, and it seems healthier, but you need to still maintain a good pattern for haircare. And a professional coloring would be great. Coloring yoru hair is acutally good for it, surprise surprise. It opens the cuticle and cleans the hair or something liek that, I can't really remember exactly but there are ways it can be good. Ask them to use a gentle ammonia free dye and you should be fine.

just make sure u take good care of it.then its ok.and remember to pick up a colour which is safe for ur hair.some colours contain too many chemicals which damage the hair

as long as you dont dye it light again for a while it should be okay

Yes, there are good products available that will not damage your hair. Just chose the shade you like and go for it.

After I apply the dye I comb through my hair with a large pick that I keep for that purpose. I do this to ensure even dye or even color though out my hair.

I, myself, would have it done in a salon. They mnot only color your hair put useother products to keep it from frizzing and getting dry.

First of all color from a store and color from a salon are 2 totally different things. Store color has metalics in it (like tiny pieces of metal) that are more likely to damage your hair and over time will ruin it.

If you want to dye it the same color just do your roots, that will prevent damage and then after few months you can pull the color to the ends.

If you have to use store color the best it anything l'oreal makes because they also make professional color and it will be safer for your hair

Definitely go to a professional. They are "educated" on hair. Things you don't know, they have studied. I am a professional, and I would never suggest store bought color. I'm not just saying that to make more money; I have studied hair, and it's chemical make-up.

You should be fine. When you bleach your hair that's what causes the most damage. give yourself 45-60 days between dying and try doing only roots for touch ups.

Best of luck

Yes, it's fine. Just get one that is close in color to the color on your head now. That way when it comes time to dyeing it again you can do it less often. The closer the color, the better it'll blend in with your roots. My mom does this and colors her hair 2-3 times a year. She also uses a semi-perm color, Loreal Color Spa and washes her hair with Pantene.

From my personal experience...the times when I dyed my hair at home from a box and the times I had it done at a salon...it came out better, more vibrant color and lasted a lot longer than when I would get it done at the salon.

Well I have some advice for you. Try this brand Satin-its such a good brand that the color will look natural on you. The color wont fade, you just have to do root touch ups. Its a little bit more than the regular stuff but trust me its worth it. To find it go to a salon that sells hair products.

I have a similar problem, but I only have highlights and I want to go blonde at home but everyone tells me to go to a salon! So I guess going to a salon would be worth it, but if you say you've been dying your hair at home for a long time then do so...(I want to learn how to dye my hair blonde at home so I dont have to spend so much!) Good luck! And let me know how it goes !
