How do i make my permed curly hair last longer?

my hair is naturally straight..so do you have any tips on how to make the curls last longer?

and also do you have any tips on how to take care of my permed hair so that it'll look healthy and wont get frizzy? like what are the do's and dont's?

Product is key to helping those curls look great! If you use professional products, you'll keep those curvalicious curls looking great! Different product lines have their versions of what I'm going tell you, so it depends on what product line you decide to go with, but basically, if you get a curl enhancing shampoo and conditioner.....a leave-in conditioner and a nice defining gel that is meant for curls (usually a little softer type gel, not a firm gel that you'd do spikes with!!!) and maybe a good reconstructor conditioner to keep the protein/moisture balance good. Ask your favorite stylist what product line they recommend. Personally, I love Aquage, Nioxin and Scruples. There are many great ones out there, just don't go to Walmart and expect those products to do the same for your hair! It's worth it to get good stuff!!! The good stuff isn't loaded with wax fillers and junk that will weigh down or strip out the curls! After you shampoo and condition in the shower, gently squeeze out the water with a towel. Don't rough up the hair and go crazy with the towel. After hair is towel blotted, gently pick through the hair with a pick or a large tooth comb...NEVER use a brush on a perm!!!! AFter hair is detangled, apply your leave in conditioner, pick through, then apply your gel, THOROUGHLY, scalp to ends. IF you apply your gel correctly, it will keep the curled strand all together and looking like a curl. If you don't use enough product, the strand will separate and you'll get fly aways. It will make your hair appear frizzy. So good product application is vital! Then pick through again and arrange the curls how you want them and go...or use a diffuser on the end of your blowdyer and gently lift some strands of hair and lay them on the diffuser...kinda go ends up to scalp, so you'll have a bunch of hair in the diffuser as you hold it up to your scalp. Hope that makes sense!!! After you've dried, gently finger where you need to, but don't pick/comb or brush for that matter. You're done and if you choose you can use a light hair spray to keep everything in place.

PS...DON'T by the salon stuff at the discount store...it's diverted product and it's ALWAYS more expensive than when you would buy the same product at a salon. Crazy, I know, but it's the truth! Good luck to you and those great curls!
