I'm a 17 yr old girl, I have really thick hair, when i part my hair i can barely see the scalp. but these past months i think it's getting thinner and i have no idea why. i don't braid it or treat it roughly. I was wondering if it was getting thinner because i'm not getting enough vitamins or something?? my dad had the hairloss gene but he didn't start losing it until he was 30 yrs old... none of the females in my family lose their hair. [i'm not pregnant and i'm completely healthy]
Hair help...............?
it could be due to stress. go see your doctor. he would be able to tell you for sure.

You can go to your dr. and ask to get a blood test to check your hormone levels. I am not sure though because of your age that this test would be of any real meaning because at 17, your body is hormonal already but talk to your dr. Just so you know though, every girl loses some hair, not to leave you bald or anything but naturally some hair does fall out. Go to the dr. though, just to make sure everything is normal because I know hair is so important to us girls =)
Hair help...............?
Well, it could be that hair thinning runs in your family, but it could be other things. If you've lost a lot of weight recently or if you have an eating disorder your hair will tend to thin out. Or if you havnt had your hair cut in a while the dead ends will cause the rest of the hair to become weak and hair will fall out significantly then also.
Or it oculd be that you're just not eating right. Proteins and other vitimins help make yuor hair stronger. It's kind of like your fingernails. If none of that helps, then you should definatly go see a doctor before you go bald!!! =)
