Henna for your hair...any information?

I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on henna for your hair...or Cassia Obovata (so my friend says)...

I'm interested not in the hair dye but the one that supposedly doesn't change your hair color. I believe it's a green powder that you mix with water and put it in your hair and leave it in for 2 hours or so and wash it out. It supposedly makes your hair shiny, softer, and just better looking (healthier perhaps?).

I was wondering if anyone had used this before and could tell me if it really doesn't change your hair color and if it's healthy...also, if you liked it and would recommend it...

Any information would be appreciated...thank you :)

Henna for your hair...any information?

Regular Henna will color your hair red, but you can get colorless Henna that will make it soft, shinny and thicker (you can also find Henna in other colors, it will not lighten your hair, only darken it). You may get some answers from salons people that will tell you it's not good for you, but that's all a bunch of crap. I've been using Henna on my hair for over 5 years and I've never had a single problem.

Basically, Henna is the extract of a plant (all natural) that comes in a powder form. You mix it with hot water, a tiny bit of olive oil and (depending on if you're coloring or not) some other ingredients (lemon juice for blondes, coffee for brunettes and raspberry tea for reds). It becomes a paste that you put on your hair. You can either wait for it to dry (2-3 hours depending on your heair length and if you have thick hair) or you can sit under a dryer for about 45 minutes. But I don't recommend the dryer method, it tends to damage your hair because of the heat.

After it's dried you just jump in the shower and wash it out. This can take a while and be kind of messy, especially if your using the regular red Henna or another color. It's permanent, and works by coating and binding to the individual hair shafts, but you can remove it with Baby Oil or Mineral Oils. You can use any shampoo or conditioner (as long as it doesn't contain mineral oils) and you can use your normal styling products.

I consider Henna to be a miracle for hair, and if you want more help with the process, feel free to email me.
